Dental Anxiety?

Pain-free Dentistry

Do you suffer from dental anxiety? You’re not alone! Millions of Americans experience dental anxiety that prevents them from getting the dental care they need and deserve.

Having a background in Psychology, Dr. Patel is very familiar with anxiety. For many patients, their anxiety stems from negative childhood experiences where their dentist did not numb them before doing a procedure. For others, they may have experienced pain during a procedure as an adult – and it was enough to scar them permanently. And finally, some patients have anxiety based on stories they’ve heard from friends or family – I can’t keep track of the number of times people cringe upon hearing the word “root canal.” The good news is: we do numb here, and if you feel anything during the procedure, Dr. Patel knows many ways of how to make sure you don’t feel a thing.

At Family Dentistry of Milford, we want to hear your story. We want to know what we need to do differently to make sure you have the BEST dental experience you’ve ever had.

For many, the worst part is getting numb. There is no way to avoid getting an injection in order to be numbed; however, when done with the right technique, many patients are surprised to find that they did not feel the needle.

For children and adults, we have stress balls available upon request. We also recommend bringing some headphones if you are one that cannot stand the sound of the handpiece. Whatever it is, let us know and we will work with you to ensure a positive experience.
